Review:
First and foremost I'm going to admit that I didn' read the first novel of this wonderful series. Really guys! It blew me away! It has romance, drama, betrayal, an island and a storm... and for all of you who loves music and boys... well. let's say that we have some rock stars, or future rock stars, whatever...
I don't know way I was so afraid to read the book.... ehh, so I was a little put down in the start of the novel because we have a cliche kind of subject- girl loves boy, boy loves girl, they don't tell each other because said boy it's crushing hard on said girl who is the sister of his best friend... yep, nothing new here, and the most strange and not so quite realistic part is that this boy is like a incarnation of Romeo... here I did make some strange faces when he tells her how their love is eternal, and I know, I know we all have that moment when we think that our love is forever... BUT they're nineteen and seventeen years old. How many of you know FOR SURE that your love is forever on that age and, wait for it, how many of you boys (be honest!) know that your love is forever on that age?
I don't know, maybe I'm too harsh or cynical but, for me, I didn't think that all my relationships will last that that long, I was well aware that life can get in the way and we couldn't have that perfect love...
But, first let's find out more about this story, shall we?
It begins with Ryan, Ashley and Leo- they all have been best friends since childhood, but in these last years, Ashley have been crushing on Ryan and in the last year, Ryan starts to have the same feelings for her, but how can these two be together and not complicate their friendship with Ashley's brother? Simply- they can't.So even thought they have these feelings one for the other, they don't take the relationship to the next step until Ryan and Leo go on a road trip with their band - Storm Front- then, Leo starts to suspect that something it's not quite right and confronts Ryan about his sister and why he stays so far from groupies when they're all over him...
That's the moment when Ryan's defenses about Ashley starts to shatter and he admits his feelings and his fears, but Leo, bless his heart, it's not furious, oh no! He tells Ryan to grow a bone and be happy and obviously, to make Leo's sister happy.
That's the moment when Ashley's happiness starts to became something tangible for her, when her parent's abandon starts to fade and Ryan to make her deliriously happy, in fact so happy that she's willing to be his in all the ways she can possibly be. That's right, folks! She's willing to give him her V-card, and I'm not talking about Cupid's holiday...
Until Ryan does something more or less stupid and they break up in the middle of... a storm... and Leo comes to the rescue of her little sister, but it is a storm in the city and that's when the drama really starts, making Ashley run from Ryan and her home...
The story it's narrated on from both main characters- Ashley and Ryan- but it's not direct, but don't worry, folks, you will still feel every little emotion that they're feeling, especially when they split up and Ryan let's her run fom him...
Obviously, there is a part two of this story but I'm sooo not going to tell you that, what I can reassure you is that there is a HEA...
Characters:
Ryan- oh my god- in the start he seems such a Romeo, with his sweet lines and his brooding self, until he makes some mistakes that bite him in the ass. But, then he starts to make amends and try to fix the parts of him that are broken. So when he thinks he can move on and have a new start, he starts searching for Ashley and doesn't give up to her, even though she's so changed now that it doesn't seem that he has a chance with her. But the best part, he doesn't give up, not for a moment...
Ashley- that girl has some serious growing up moments in this book, from inocent, pure Ashley to vixen 'I-DON'T-GIVE-A-DAMN-ABOUT-MEN' Ashley, or in other words from a girl to a woman and to finally a happy woman. It was really hard to see how her wold has been crushing down on her and destroy her childhood and her little safe haven in just a night. But then again, we would not have been presents to her transformation and this beautiful story...
Final Verdict- Storm front is more than a story about boy's bands or friendship or love. Is a story about how death can change you, how you can't give up when your happiness depends on your soul mate. It's a a story, as cliche as it seems, about second chances and about a new beginning.
