I haven't known about this series for a long time, but recently I have discovered K.A. Tucker's books and I can't believe all this time lost, but know it's over…and it’s a bittersweet thought to think that way and, honestly, it couldn’t have ended any better than with Five Ways to Fall…it’s a gorgeous, heart-wrenching series that will have a special place in my heart. So…if you haven’t read the first three books in the series… Ten Tiny Breaths , One Tiny Lie and Four Seconds to Lose…then you HAVE to read it. Seriously, people you have to read this amazing series, even though Five Ways to Fall could, in theory, be read as a standalone…but you'll feel more connected with the characters if you read the books in order, and you'll love to see them grow up through the series and see every one of them having their happy end, and…like I already said – it’s a brilliant series, so come on... just read it!

Benjamin James Morris...I was in love with Ben ever since TTB because who can resist him? He’s funny, charming, witty and irresistible. Plus the fact that he’s gorgeous, hot with a charming smile doesn’t hurt either. But he's man whore and while, their not my usually type…for a man whore, one of the best, because even though a man like him just brings an angsty note to a story, this was so not the case, but don't get me wrong there was drama.Especially with his past, because of his drunk father who was, by all accounts, a complete and total scoundrel…he had one of the best mother’s in the entire world , his Mama! How can you help yourself and not fall in love with a man like that?! A man who cares so much for his mom that he would do anything to see her happy...
But when... Reese enters in the story...
“You’re not my type.”
I’ve heard this before and I don’t believe her. Hell, I’m everyone’s type! Eventually.”
Back to our review, we all know Ben’s story,he wanted to go to a pro football career, and we know that didn't go so well, but learning the back story on why he became a lawyer was really enlightening.
Reese MacKay was a really togh girl, maybe she wouldn't have been this way if life hasn't dealt her a bad hand, having to take care of herself since childhood, with her dad abandoning her, or her emotionless mom who wants to change her, or the betrayal of her husband, who cheated on her after just a few months into their marriage…
“No way a guy who’s been in there wouldn’t be bothered watching someone else stick his tongue in your mouth.”
“I think you should send that straight to Hallmark.”
I know that not many people could understand Reese, because she isn't your tipically damsel in distress, that so many authors promote, but that was more than okay with me because it was like a breeze of fresh air. She’s just a little dry, with an abundace of sarcastic replies and an atitude 'don't care what you think about me and, like I said- I adored Reese. She’s so different- she dyes her hair and her love of motorcycle. She’s funny and insanely smart, also she has good friends, that will do anything to help her, but maybe that was her problem because she keeps herself so guarded from the world, it's like she expects that everybody will betray her and the only time she lets her walls crumble, is for a guy who promises her the world and like we know she gets her heart crushed, and after everything she still can't be completely free from the ghost of her ex.
“I want your womanizing mama’s-boy football-player butt all to myself and if I catch you with any Twinkies or beautify queens or anyone else, you’d better run fast because I will hunt you down.”
The way they connect and, later in the story, they reconnect is simply perfect, even more so how their relationship develops, it wasn't rushed and it felt completely natural, even though they are fictional characters, and if we count also their commitment phobies, this story could have been a completely failure on the hands of any other author, but Tucker does a brilliant job.
After their desastrous (and comical) meeting and reunion, they become friends. Friends that wants to do each other. Their core connection is sound though, I really felt like they got each other and had a solid base – they were always blunt and honest with each other, but then again that’s just who they are period – they never hid the fact that they were attracted to each other but weren’t interested in a relationship, and I understood them, because sometimes you just aren't ready to put yourself out there, not after their past, Ben with his parent's marriage fallure and Reese with her own marriage fallure.
Even though, she had terrible parents and an horrible husband, she does have one man who will stand for her – Jack, her mom’s ex-husband, because of his marriage fallure with Reese’s mom that she cheated on him, he could have cut her out of his life for good and never looked back but the way he took her in and helped her when she desperately needed it was…sweet and caring, and I'm so happy that she had someone to help this poor girl!And Wilma! Good God, that woman was a hurricane and I wouldn't change anything about her... she was there for her boy, Ben, and would go mama bear on anyone who would dare to hurt him!
Final Decision-If you want a book about two people trying to find themselves in a world of hurt, then you have to read this book! It has amazing writing and a story that will bring tears of sadness and joy in the same time, plus she creates these flawed yet incredibly loveable characters that just completely steals your heart.
