Review: Behind His Eyes Convicted: The Missing Years (Consequences#4) by Aleatha Romig

Synopsis:

THE MISSING YEARS is the final piece to Aleatha Romig’s CONSEQUENCES SERIES puzzle. Follow the twists and turns as secrets are revealed, consequences are delivered, and the future is shown.

In CONVICTED we saw what happened that fateful afternoon at the Rawlings Estate. Now experience the shocking repercussions firsthand. More than a companion, this full-length novel fills in the gap of time that was only mentioned, beginning when Claire Nichols forgets and seen through the eyes of collective men (the HIS is plural).

In THE MISSING YEARS, readers will see Anthony Rawlings fight for what belongs to him and cope with the reality of his past. Watch as Harrison Baldwin discovers the truth that threatens his beliefs, and as John Vandersol comes to terms with his revelations. Witness Phillip Roach, as he decides with whom his loyalties lay, and Brent Simmons, as he demonstrates the meaning of friendship—no matter the cost.

As the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, BEHIND HIS EYES CONVICTED goes beyond. This final installment of the series offers a glimpse into the future of the lives that will forever be changed because there was a man who...

Once upon a time, signed a napkin that he knew was a contract. As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule—he forgot to read the fine print. It wasn’t an acquisition to own another person as he’d previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a soul.
—Aleatha Romig, CONVICTED

BEHIND HIS EYES CONVICTED also contains a complete glossary of characters and a timeline that covers the entire series. Review:

Let me start with saying that I NEED this book to be published in my country! Please, PLEASE, PLEASE! Somebody has to publish this series. in Romania!  Now, let's start with the story...

I dont want this review to have many spoilers and I know that not many of you had the opportunity to read this wonderful, gut-punching, hear-stopping story. I must say that I always had a thing for the beautiful, tortured dark male heroes (in books of course, because I don't know if in real life I could let a man man-haddle me even if he would be my soul mate), but Tony was incredible, and his evolution the controlling CEO with a dark past to the dotting husband and father is more deeply ilustrated here than in any other book of this series. Don't get me wrong, I ADORED the dark side of Tony, but some things were hard to understand even for me.

Another aspect that I loved about this book is that there are so many flawed and two face characters, that you can't possibly anticipate what their move will be, and even more importantly who your enemies or friends are, so are trapped in this rollercoster of andrenaline and mistery, and your only hope will be to see a decent ending in this story, because there were moments when I thought that this story couldn't possibly have a happy ending, but I was wrong, and I'm more than happy with how things resolved.

The Missing Years...for me this title shows exactly my feelings concerning the time that I lost not reading it and now I'm deeply sorry for all... the missing years.

Many readers make the mistake of thinking that this book is just another novella, because of the title (but Aleatha will change the title very soon, so this confusion will be finally resolved), from my point of view as a reader, this isn't another novella. On the contrary, this is just the final piece of this grand puzzle and mind- f***ing that has been the consequences series, so in my opinion the cover ilustrates the idea that corroborates all the history in this series. Each novel was perfectly as an individual book, but together with BHE: The Missing Years, we finally have the answers that we seeked from the start of this series with Consequences until Convicted, and more so we finally see a different side of Tony, what he's been through and how he endures his separation from his beloved Claire.

The other wish that I have concerning this series is that I want to see it on the big screen, and not just as a tv show, although I would be happy on this outcome too... but, seriously, this series deserves to be made as a movie, because I don't think that I've read another series more complex with characters complicated full of past ghost and a background extremely well created. Nothing was what it seems, and each character had a story that changed more or less the destiny of the others.

Characters:

From the start of this story I wanted Claire to have her happy end with Tony, but along this journey, I have find myself hating him for some of his action, because let's face it, he's the demon and the angel combined into one hot, beautiful and damaged package of f***** up man.

He's the kind of book boyfriend that you love to hate and hate to love, all in one, and If someone would have told me once upon a time that I would find myself trapped in Anthony Rawlings's spell, I would have laugh and tell him to talk with a doctor, but... now, after everything that he has endured, the sacrifices that he made to be a better man for his daughter, Nichol and his wife, Claire, everything has changed for me.

And I'm truly happy that Aleatha Romig has offered this story for us to see a different side of the other characters, because until now I was a little upset with John, but now I understand him more and not just him, but also Harry, Brent and Phil, who's 'voices' we will hear in this story.

Final Verdict- The Consequences series is not for everyone, it's dark, full of damaged and flawed characters, but if you give it a chance, you will find yourself trapped in a world were the good and bad are not what it seems, what we know.

A world that tells more than Anthony and Claire's story, a world that tells a story about crimes and past sins.

My rating 5/5
